The Sunset
South Neighborhood transforms the former Dove Meadows “project”
from what once was an intense concentration of poverty and a magnet
for crime into a diverse community that includes affordable homeownership
opportunities.
In addition to the traditional lots, green courts
are used in several locations to create special places where a
small number of homes enclose an intimate green space. The green
courts are protected places where children can play or older folks
can sit and stroll.
At the “front door” along Southern
Blvd., a new triangle park creates a sense of entry to the neighborhood
as well as a buffer from the traffic on the main street. When
combined with the green courts, the parks and greens provide a
rich variety of pedestrian connections throughout the neighborhood.
