Description:
The Sunrise Valley development plan proposes to
create two compact, mixed-use, mixed-density neighborhoods incorporating
principles of New Urbanism:
- Each of these two distinct neighborhoods is defined by the
natural elements in the valley and the location of community
parks and open space.
- Development within each neighborhood is guided by the concept
of the Transect where each design element finds its place in
a seamless continuum from rural-to-urban.
- Opportunities for neighborly interaction and casual encounters
are encouraged wherever possible. Generous porches close to
detached sidewalks are located along tree-lined streets. Village
gathering places are within a five-minute walk of every home.
- The Green Overlook Courts, each with a small cluster of four
single-family homes, will have their front porches facing into
small pocket parks that provide public access and view corridors
to the river for all neighborhood residents.
