Description:
The North Village Design Guidelines and Standards (“Standards”)
express both the overall vision for North Village as well as
the precise details for how that vision will be achieved.
The Standards seek to create a memorable and enduring place guided
by the principles of traditional neighborhood development adapted
to this challenging mountain setting. The goal is to create a
place where a genuine sense of community can flourish. The buildings,
streets, and public spaces are designed to work together to establish
the identity and focus that a town or village needs to help give
meaning to the lives of the residents.
The Standards are organized to deal with first the overall community
design through the establishment of specific transects and the
creation of an appropriate thoroughfare system. In addition to
permitted uses and required off-street parking, more specific
concerns in regard to building-to-street and building-to-building
relationships are documented along with the proposed building
types. Finally, detailed instructions are provided for architectural
and landscaping design.
